Hocker Knives was founded in 2022 by Dan Hatfield as he prepared to retire from a 20-year career in U.S. Navy Special Operations as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Technician.
What started as a hobby in early 2020 as a student from Black Horse Forge located in Stafford, Virginia. Founded by veterans with the mission of supporting veterans, first-responders and their families. Dan quickly found a passion for hand making knives and tools, applying the same attention to detail he learned disarming bombs in the military. Every knife is unique and purposefully made using a combination of blacksmithing and modern day technology to produce high quality tools.
Dan spent much of his Navy career as a diver as well, and continues to dive as often as possible and uses those experiences to influence his work. The latest result of this are the Damascus or Pattern Welded Steel and Wrought Iron shark’s teeth products he’s started offering.
Hocker Knives is about striving to always learn and produce higher quality products, and to continue spreading the knowledge as far as possible. Dan is now a Cadre member of at Black Horse Forge volunteering to teach free classes and donating items for auction and raffling as often as possible.
